Powerful explosions rocked Lipetsk, Russia, on the night of October 28, amid a missile alert, and Russian air defenses were deployed against aerial targets. Monitoring channels and Ukrainian agents on the ground reported the possible incoming Flamingo cruise missiles, as well as fires near the local airfield and the Novolipetsk Steel Plant (NLMK).

Dialog.UA reports this  with reference to the monitoring channel Exilenova+ and the partisan organization “Atesh.”

Local residents reported loud noises in the sky starting on the evening of October 27. Prior to this, a missile alert was issued in the Lipetsk region. Russian sources suggested that Flamingo missiles may have flown over the region. Footage of the Russian Pantsir anti-aircraft system in action also surfaced online.

According to monitoring data, Russian air defenses performed poorly, with incoming aircraft and fires reported in the city. One of the fires is located near the local airfield.

Another fire has been reported near NLMK (Novolipetsk Steel), a steel plant that also works for the Russian military-industrial complex. The blaze may have been caused by a missile strike or a Russian air defense failure.

This isn’t the first time Lipetsk has come under attack from Ukrainian missiles. In the summer of 2026, we reported on powerful missile strikes in the city and subsequent detonations.

Before this, at the beginning of the year, a large oil depot was damaged in the Lipetsk region.
