Lavrov stated that Russia had no reason to refuse to help North Korea in the war in Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in North Korea , North Korean and Russian media reported . It is noted that after a meeting of ASEAN foreign ministers, Lavrov arrived in the North Korean city of Wonsan, which is known for its missile and naval facilities.

Lavrov met with his North Korean counterpart Choi Song-hee in the DPRK, during which they discussed the war in Ukraine and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

In particular, he stated that the Russian Federation had no reason to refuse to help the DPRK in the war in Ukraine, “it was a sincere manifestation of solidarity.”

At the same time, he added that the issue of further assistance to Russia in the war is decided by Kim Jong-un himself.

Regarding the possibility of meetings between Putin and Kim Jong-un, Lavrov said that they are in constant contact, and that there will definitely be high-level meetings between Russia and the DPRK.

He also commented on statements about the creation of a multinational force corps to defend Ukraine by a “coalition of the willing”, calling it “fantasy” and stating that Moscow “does not take these attempts seriously”.

Russia and North Korea

Earlier, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, said that North Korea is currently supplying Russia with up to 40% of the ammunition for the war with Ukraine . According to him, the Kim Jong-un regime is sending Russia, in particular, ballistic missiles and artillery systems.

South Korean intelligence also reported that North Korea could soon send more troops to Russia. According to South Korea’s National Intelligence Service, this could happen as early as July or August.
