The Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is back with lights after the shelling.

As noted, after the Russian attack, the Assumption Cathedral was left without electricity.
“The work was extremely complex, but DTEK’s energy engineers restored light to one of the most important shrines in Ukraine and all of Europe. This will allow us to continue the restoration of the Assumption Cathedral,” DTEK explained.
What preceded it?
- Damaged as a result of the shelling of Kyiv on June 15Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. In particular, the Assumption Cathedral was damaged.
- The National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO strongly condemns another Russian strike, which damaged the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a cultural object under enhanced protection under the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its Second Protocol of 1999.
- The leadership of the UNESCO Secretariat was demanded to take a tough and clear response, to use the tools of the UNESCO Executive Board, the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, and the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
