The Don-Azov Canal is a navigable waterway connecting the Don River with the Sea of Azov. According to market analysts, up to a quarter of Russian wheat exports, of which Russia is the world’s largest exporter, pass through the Sea of Azov.
One of Reuters’ interlocutors reported that Russian border guards have informed shipping companies that they have stopped accepting applications for passage through the Kerch Strait, which connects the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
“All applications for passage through the Kerch Strait, which connects the Seas of Azov and Black, will not be accepted from 6:10 p.m. local time on Friday,” the message said.
