The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin lost in relation to Ukraine after the Ukrainian state, against the background of a new possible aggression of the Russian Federation, received massive assistance from Western countries , and Russia received a threat of new US sanctions.

“The Kremlin trembled,” said Yuri Shvets, a classmate of the head of Russia at the KGB institute and a former Soviet intelligence officer, on the air of the Ukraine 24 channel .

“Apparently, Putin lost. In the past few days, when mass deliveries of missiles and other equipment to Ukraine began, when NATO countries began encircling the western flank of the Russian Federation, exercises in the Mediterranean Sea, in the North Atlantic, exercises are planned in the Arctic, the transfer of the latest F-35 fighters on the eastern flank of NATO … all this, apparently, made an impression, “the expert said.

According to him, the threat of new US sanctions also affected the Russian authorities.

The expert said whether Ukraine is threatened by missile strikes from Russia”All this has led to the Kremlin trembling. About two or three days ago, a plaintive whining is heard from the Kremlin through its controlled media and propagandists,” Shvets said.

Shvets noted that Russia also received a “blow in the gut” from China.

“… On January 25, Xi Jinping (the leader of China – Ed.) held a video conference with the leaders of the countries of Central Asia … Russia was not even invited there. The meaning of this conference was that China takes these countries under its wing – and Russia is there nothing to do with it … “, – explained the former intelligence officer.

Putin’s classmate believes that in this way the Russian Federation received a blow from two sides – from the west and southeast.

Earlier, diplomat, international expert Ruslan Osipenko shared his opinion that Vladimir Putin, in relation to the Ukrainian state, did not rely on military force , but on a political solution.

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine  briefly about what you need to know

In the spring of 2014, Russian authorities illegally annexed Ukrainian Crimea. Then Russia supported the militants who seized part of the Donbass and created the self-proclaimed “DNR” and “LNR”. Russian troops also invaded part of eastern Ukraine.

The Russian side claims that it did not invade the Donbass, and calls the capture of Crimea the return of the peninsula to its “native harbour”.

A number of Western countries have punished Russia for aggression against Ukraine with sanctions.

Last autumn, the Russian Federation aggravated the situation on the border with Ukraine – they transferred a lot of military and equipment, there was a threat of a large-scale invasion .

At the end of January of this year, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexei Danilov said that a  large-scale Russian offensive against Ukraine was physically impossible .

White House Speaker Jen Psaki said that the US authorities have prepared a list of people from Vladimir Putin’s entourage against whom economic sanctions may be imposed in the event of a Russian offensive in Ukraine.
