As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that the losses of the Russian army in the war against Ukraine significantly exceed those of the Ukrainians. The exact figures for the losses of both sides, he said, remain unknown.

In an interview with Fox News, Zelensky reported that the total losses of Russian troops amounted to about 1.6 million orcs, of which approximately 700 thousand were killed.

“Their losses are 1 million 600 thousand in total, of which about 700 thousand are dead. Approximately,” the president said.

At the same time, the head of state refused to name the exact losses of the Ukrainian army, explaining this by security reasons.

“I don’t want to be too frank on this issue, because the Russians will understand what is happening to our army. We have about 50,000 dead soldiers, as well as about 400,000 wounded,” Zelensky noted.

According to him, the number of deaths in the Russian army is approximately 14 times higher than in the Ukrainian one. The president also added that there is a significant number of soldiers who are missing.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that an analysis by the American Center for Strategic and International Studies showed that in the first half of 2026, the ratio of losses of the Russian and Ukrainian armies in 2026 increased to 8:1, while in previous years it was approximately 2-3:1. One of the key reasons was strikes by Ukrainian drones.
