President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is continuing its operation against Russia’s oil refining sector – according to him, this is very noticeable for the enemy
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in a video address.
“The operation against Russian oil refining continues. This is very tangible for them,” the president noted, adding that there were also strikes on Russian anti-aircraft missile systems and radar stations, as well as retaliatory strikes on Russian infrastructure in the Azov and Black Sea regions.
“The only reason why this is still going on is Russia’s unwillingness to end this war,” Zelenskyy stressed.
The president added that new contacts with mediators will take place this week regarding steps and proposals needed to end the war — including new air defense packages.
- As a reminder, on the night of August 8, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck two refineries in Russia at once – Syzran and Il’sky in the Krasnodar Territory, and fires broke out at both.
- And two days earlier, on the night of August 6, drones attacked the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery, one of the five largest in Russia, which burned at least six times in the spring of 2026 alone.
