Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni proposes extending NATO’s Article 5 to Ukraine without the country’s membership in the military alliance.

The Financial Times writes about this . EU leaders are currently holding an urgent summit to support Ukraine. The publication does not disclose any other details regarding Meloni’s proposal.

It should be noted that Article 5 of NATO stipulates that an armed attack on one of the Alliance member countries will be considered an attack on all members. NATO will take actions that it deems necessary to help the ally that has been attacked.
