Intercity will be launched between Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk

The Government is currently awaiting a decision on the allocation of funds for the development of a feasibility study for a project to modernize and electrify the Ternopil-Ivano-Frankivsk railway section.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

“Our goal is to connect all regional centers of Ukraine by 2024 with high-quality high-speed rail services. As part of the” Great Construction “on the railway, we plan to connect two major regional centers: Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk. Halych – Pidvysoke “, – the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov noted.

He added that it will also reduce the travel time from the cities of central and southern Ukraine to Prykarpattia, including key mountain resorts in the region, by 3 hours. In addition, the restoration of the railway route between Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk will reduce the distance between the cities from the current 283 km to 141 km.

Construction works are planned to start at the beginning of next year, so that after their completion the Intercity + high-speed electric train will be launched on the Kyiv-Ternopil-Ivano-Frankivsk route.

It is noted that Ukrzaliznytsia and the Ministry of Infrastructure are working on the option of restoring the 29 km of the Halych-Pidvysoke track (via the Kozova, Pidhaytsi and Halych stations), which was dismantled in 1944.

  1. In 3 years Ukraine will have a good (not perfect still) infrastructure in roads and train traffic. But a good basis for the future.
