In temporarily occupied Mariupol, the Galaktika hypermarket was almost completely burned down after a drone attack. According to the Center for the Study of Occupation, the Russian military used its territory to park mobile fire groups and store military equipment.

This was reported by the Mariupol City Council and the head of the Center for the Study of the Occupation, Petro Andryuschenko , Censor.NET reports.

The fire broke out on the night of September 7 after a series of explosions . Local sources reported that the building was almost completely burned down. The Mariupol City Council also released photos of the aftermath of the fire.

Andryuschenko reported that “Galaktika” was not only a civilian shopping facility. According to him, small fire groups of Russian troops were constantly stationed there and military equipment was stored. He also reported a fire at a gas station next to the shopping center.

“Galaktika” operated in the premises of the former METRO hypermarket. After the capture of Mariupol, the Russians opened a shopping center there under a new name.
