On the morning of December 21, the city of Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation) was attacked by unmanned aerial vehicles. The Russians claim that one of the UAVs allegedly hit the Azure Skies residential complex.

A fire broke out at the scene, according to Russian Telegram channels.

Russian propagandists claim that the fire in the Azure Sky residential building in Kazan started at around 8:00 a.m., allegedly due to a UAV strike. Residents of the damaged high-rise are being evacuated, and traffic around the residential building is blocked.

Later, propagandists claimed that a drone had also allegedly flown into the Manhattan residential complex. According to Russian media, the drone hit the top of the high-rise building.

The network reported that explosions were heard in a five-story building in Kazan. Proponents claim that this is due to a drone attack. A fire is still burning at the scene.

Local authorities said that a drone attack caused fires in houses in the Sovietsky and Kirovsky districts of Kazan. Mayor Ilsur Metshin said that evacuated residents would be temporarily housed in other buildings.

In addition, officials complained that the entire New Year’s program in Kazan was canceled due to the drone attack.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it had prevented an attempt by the “Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using an aircraft-type UAV” on facilities on Russian territory. According to the terrorist agency, the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed by air defense means over the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Local authorities are not providing information about the dead or injured. At the same time, officials are urging Kazan residents to go down to their basements and wait out the drone attack.

According to local officials, a total of 8 arrivals were recorded, including one at an industrial enterprise, one over a river, and 6 at a residential area. It is reported that employees at industrial enterprises have been evacuated and are in shelters.

According to preliminary data, the Kazan Gunpowder Plant was under attack by unmanned aerial vehicles. The enterprise manufactures gunpowder for small arms, shots for close combat systems, charges for rocket launchers, and cartridges for land, air, and naval artillery.

As a reminder, on December 21, Russia reported an airstrike. In the Sochi area of the Krasnodar Territory, local residents heard up to a dozen powerful explosions, which “shaked the windows in their frames and set off the alarm.”

It was previously reported that on the night of December 21, Russians also complained about a massive ATACMS attack on Rylsk in the Kursk region. It is reported that there were deaths and injuries as a result of the strike, and the city was left without electricity.

  1. Too bad, so sad about the collateral damage to these civilian structures. Mafia land attacked so many Ukrainian civilian targets that this is not bad news at all, but a highly welcome one, albeit this happens far too little.
