Things look bad on the battlefield. But in the first months of 2022, things looked even worse, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told the Financial Times .

At the same time, he said, Ukraine does not yet have the means and tools to “turn the situation around and change the trajectory of how events are unfolding.”

“And if things continue like this, we will lose the war,” the diplomat believes.

He noted, however, that the question of why the West is doing nothing is usually the most difficult one.

“What I hate in my conversations with European and American experts, and “hate” is a word I usually don’t use, is that everyone asks what Ukraine is ready to do, what Ukraine is ready to accept. And I say: guys, first find the answer to the question of what Putin is ready to accept. Because this is where the war is coming from.”

Kuleba also believes that Ukraine is lucky that Joe Biden was the US president in 2022.

“Because if it were anyone else, we would be much worse off. There is a place in Joe Biden’s heart for Ukraine. But his mind was formed by the logic of the Cold War. You don’t talk to him about Ukraine’s membership in NATO. Don’t talk to him about nuclear weapons. Because that’s what irritates him,” the former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summed up.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that current US President Joe Biden will not have time to use the money he promised to supply weapons to Kyiv. According to media reports, Washington will have to supply weapons worth more than $110 million a day in order to spend the remaining funds on time.
