US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the Pentagon’s Green Room to be converted into a make-up studio where senior officials can prepare for appearances in front of television cameras, a US Defense Department spokesman told The Hill .

“Many of the changes to the Green Room were modifications to the furniture – a director’s chair, a mirror and a dressing table – all of which were added from existing stock. The countertop was added and fabricated in-house by the Directorate of Facilities Services, a service at Headquarters in Washington,” a US Department of Defense spokesperson told reporters.

CBS News also reported that the renovation of the facility cost several thousand dollars. However, the Pentagon press service denied this information.

“In this update, we were intentionally conservative and chose several less expensive, available material solutions that provide the secretary and other VIPs with the necessary support and space to communicate with the press on camera,” the press service added.

Democrats mocked Hegseth

In addition, American officials have already reacted to this information. The Hill shared that Democrats ridiculed Hegseth for redecorating a room in the Pentagon.

In particular, Senator Ruben Gallego stated that the only makeup that the US Secretary of Defense should have is makeup like that of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character from the movie “Predator.”

“Sources say his favorite makeup products at the Pentagon are concealer and camouflage cream,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wrote in a post on social media X.

Additionally, Rep. Ted Lieu joked on his X social media page that “nothing screams warrior culture like a makeup studio.”

CNN previously reported that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared details of the operation against the Houthis in a Signal chat with his wife, brother, and lawyer. It is reported that this happened from his personal phone.

The investigation into the data leaks is being led by the acting inspector general of the Department of Defense. It is not known whether all participants in the chat had access to classified information. A Pentagon spokesman said that “no classified information was in any Signal chat.”
