US President Donald Trump said that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky’s words that Ukraine does not recognize the occupation of Crimea are “very damaging to peace talks with Russia.”
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky boasts on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that ‘Ukraine does not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There is nothing to talk about here.’ This statement is very damaging to peace talks with Russia, since Crimea was lost many years ago under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama, and it is not even a subject of discussion,” he wrote on the social network Truth Social .
According to Trump, “no one is asking Zelensky to recognize Crimea as Russian territory.”

Zelensky’s statements about Crimea
Zelensky said that Ukraine does not legally recognize Russia’s occupation of Crimea .

Zelensky added that as soon as talks about Crimea and our sovereign territories begin, we are entering the format that Russia wants – prolonging the war, because it will not be possible to quickly agree on everything.
