On the night of May 12, several regions of Russia were visited by “Bavovna”. Three legitimate military targets were hit at once – an oil refinery, an oil depot and a metallurgical plant.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is behind all three defeats. Intelligence sources told OBOZ.UA about this.
As part of the GUR operation, the Volgograd Oil Refinery, Kaluganefteprodukt and Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant were attacked at night on the territory of the Russian Federation. All military targets identified as part of the operation, according to the source, were hit.
Thus, according to our sources, the defeat of the oil refinery in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the Volgograd region occurred at about 2:30 a.m. local time. As a result of the attack by kamikaze drones, several explosions were heard on the territory of the enterprise, after which a fire broke out at the refinery.
Information about the defeat of the refinery was also confirmed by the governor of the Volgograd region Andrei Bocharov in the official channel of the local administration; “bavovna” was actively discussed in local chats.

Not for the first time, the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant and the Kaluganefteprodukt oil depot were also attacked: that night they were also visited by power steering drones.
“Such objects on the territory of the Russian Federation will be systematically attacked as long as necessary until they are completely neutralized. Considering Muscovy’s persistent attempts to increase pressure at the front, the Kremlin will not have sufficient forces and means to protect its strategic enterprises in the rear. The Russians will have to choose what exactly to defend: either their oil refining and metallurgical industries, or the occupation forces in Ukraine,” noted the OBOZ.UA interlocutor.
The Volgograd Oil Refinery, commissioned in 1957, is now owned by Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka LLC. The plant processes oil into fuel and oil components, its capacity is 14.8 million tons per year. The products of this refinery are mainly supplied to the southern regions of Russia, some of them are exported.

This enterprise was attacked for the second time in the last two days: an arrival at this refinery was also reported on the morning of May 11.
And unknown drones “looked” at Kaluganefteprodukt several weeks ago: on April 28, it became known that the oil depot in Lyudinovo had been hit.

Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works, NLMK is a metallurgical plant in Lipetsk, Russia, one of the largest iron and steel enterprises in the Russian Federation, controlled by Vladimir Lisin’s NLMK Group. This Russian oligarch, who actively cooperates with the Russian defense industry, was the richest in the Russian Federation in 2022, according to the Russian Forbes, and in 2023 he became the third richest Russian oligarch. Lisin is called “Putin’s wallet,” but he never came under Western sanctions. Novolipetsk MK is one of the main assets of this Russian oligarch.
NLMK produces coke, cast iron, steel, and rolled products. Gives 20% of refining pig iron. The company’s raw materials are used for the production of missiles, artillery, drones and other military orders.
On the second anniversary of the start of full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine, February 24, 2024, the plant was attacked as part of a joint operation by the State Intelligence Directorate and the SBU.
Then, as some Russian media wrote with reference to plant workers, a fire occurred in the sintering and ore preparation workshop of NLMK. It was also reported that raw coke oven gas arrived at the primary cooling plants.

Let us remind you that earlier this day it was reported that UAVs attacked an oil refinery in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation. A powerful fire broke out there.
OBOZ.UA also reported that on the night of May 11, power steering drones attacked the Lukoil oil refinery.
Meanwhile, in the Russian city of Belgorod on the same night, a series of explosions occurred and cars were set on fire.
