The Eventin vessel was included in the 16th package of European Union sanctions against Russia.
Thus, the ship and its cargo, which consists of approximately 100,000 tons of oil worth about 40 million euros, become the property of Germany.
Berlin believes that the Panamanian-flagged vessel is part of the so-called “shadow fleet” that helps Moscow circumvent Western sanctions. Eventin was previously included in the 16th package of EU sanctions against Russia.

Moscow has already commented on the situation, stating that it “has no data on the confiscated tanker.”
“Unfortunately, I do not have any information about this tanker. Therefore, I do not know whose it is, in connection with which it was confiscated. I simply do not have data on this,” Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
According to Russian media, the Eventin left the port of Ust-Luga on January 6 and headed for Egypt. On January 10, the tanker’s power supply and engine failed. The ship was later towed to the roadstead of the German port of Sasnitz on the island of Rügen.
