The German Ambassador to Kiev, Anka Feldhusen, made an important statement about the Budapest Memorandum , a document that resulted in the deprivation of Ukraine of nuclear weapons.
On the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel, the diplomat said that the document does not provide for international legal obligations.
“The Budapest Memorandum is a proposal. I think that everything should be tried now to avoid a war,” she added.

It should be noted that earlier in an interview with the TSN website , the German ambassador admitted that there was no great effect from the document.
“International agreements, you mentioned the Budapest Memorandum – this is an agreement, but there is no way to implement it if you really need it. These are signatures and nothing else,” she argued.
Earlier today, President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a speech at the Munich Conference , initiated consultations of the signatories of the document .
“Today, Ukraine will do this for the fourth time, and I, as president, for the first time. But both Ukraine and I are doing this for the last time. I initiate consultations within the framework of the Budapest Memorandum. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to convene them,” he said.
