Fuel shortages in the capital and the region were recorded last week.

In Moscow, several gas stations have imposed limits on the sale of fuel , despite the authorities’ efforts to supply the capital by redistributing volumes from the east of the Russian Federation.

According to The Moscow Times , representatives of Gazprom Neft reported that the company’s gas stations are “temporarily restricting” the sale of gasoline and diesel fuel – up to 40 liters per car. The Tatneft hotline stated that the limit for gasoline sales at the company’s gas stations in Moscow is 50 liters, and for diesel fuel – 60 liters.

Fuel shortages in the capital and the region were recorded last week. Local residents reported gasoline shortages and queues at gas stations after another series of Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries. The shortage of AI-95 was especially noticeable, which, despite the soaring prices to 120 rubles per liter, disappeared at gas stations of Gazprom, Rosneft, Naftamagistral, Teboil and other chains.

As of the evening of August 18, 95-grade gasoline was available only at one Naftamagistrali gas station in Moscow. The companies also recommended checking with a specific gas station to see if diesel is available. The Lukoil hotline reported that AI-92, AI-95, and diesel were available at two stations in the city, and only diesel at one other station.

Industry sources told Reuters earlier this week that the Kremlin has once again launched a campaign to prioritize gasoline supplies to Moscow. According to the sources, the fuel shortage in the Moscow region is being addressed by redistributing volumes from the eastern regions. Gasoline shipments are heading to the capital from the regions, despite the fact that an increasing number of them are facing a second wave of the fuel crisis, which has already affected dozens of entities.

As of August 16, gasoline or diesel was available at only 28% of gas stations across the country, compared to 41% a week earlier. Over the past seven days, fuel availability has decreased in Volgograd, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Voronezh, Samara, Penza, Saratov, Lipetsk, and Rostov regions, as well as in Tatarstan.
