Today, I turn 27, at war.
I don’t feel pity that I’m not celebrating with my loved ones.
I am proud to have spent this year defending my family and my country – Ukraine – against russian invasion.
I’ve dedicated my life and health to fighting that.

I fight for our survival. But also for the world to know our culture, our experience and our pain.
Because what Ukrainians are going through is an incredible challenge and a profound lesson for humanity. It’s the darkest now, but it’s the darkest before dawn.
This morning, like many across Ukraine, I began my day with a minute of silence at 0900 – honoring the heroes who gave their lives for our freedom.
I will forever carry them in my thoughts.
Today, please think about all the Freedom Fighters who will not see their next birthday.
To me, this tradition means a lot – because I know that our heroes are ordinary people doing extraordinary things, shaping the history of the world.
I enjoy fighting, celebrating, having fun and living together with my ordinary brothers-in-arms. I respect their sacrifice.
I’m an ordinary guy too. One year in the Army already, I’ve done everything I could to protect our land and will do much more.
I never expected to be anyhow public, but this gives me an opportunity to advocate for Ukraine. I will do that, together with my active combat role.
In my book – kovyla.pub/dimko, I described my journey of ordinary Ukrainian how I took up arms. In global security crisis, it’s useful to lots of people.
I suggest you read it and leave a short review – it’d be the best gift for my 27th birthday.

Hi Dimko, it is an honor to read your posts – I´m thankful for this and beside that I wish you a happy birthday and that you survive long enough in order to see freedom coming back to Ukraine and that the russian invaders become ther fair punishment, first of all Putin and his entourage.
