In the event of armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Poland, France is capable of deploying its troops on Polish territory in a matter of days.

This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron after signing a new treaty of friendship between the countries, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform .

“The decisions that France can take in accordance with its Constitution, the organization of our armed forces, the constant investments that we make, as well as the quality of personnel and command – all this allows me to say without any doubt that yes, such a deployment is possible in the event of aggression,” Macron said .

As evidence of the capabilities of the French army, he cited the fact that French troops were in Romania 5 days after Russia launched its war against Ukraine in February 2022.

“No other European country has been able to do this so quickly and to such an extent. So, we have this capability, and it will certainly be used if aggression really happens,” he added.

Regarding Poland’s support and protection under France’s nuclear umbrella, Macron stated that the solidarity mentioned in the signed agreement covers all components, including in the field of nuclear policy.

“We have a doctrine in this area. And since the 1960s, starting with the statements of General de Gaulle, the European dimension of this deterrence has been clearly defined. And all my predecessors have constantly reaffirmed it. This means that when deciding what are vital interests, we take into account the interests of our main partners,” he explained.

As a reminder, French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed a friendship treaty , which includes a clause on mutual defense and opens up the possibility of cooperation on nuclear deterrence.
