Fico from Moscow responded rudely to Kallas’ accusations

He says he sang the war song “Katyusha” at the interactive World War II museum.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that the head of European diplomacy, Kaia Kallas, has no right to criticize his trip to the Russian Federation.

The politician wrote on his Facebook page that he had arrived in Moscow to “honor the memory of over 60,000 Red Army soldiers who died during the liberation of Slovakia,” and that he did not agree at all with the “Iron Curtain” policy that Kallas is allegedly working on:

“As a senior official of the European Commission, you have no authority to criticize a sovereign prime minister of a sovereign country who approaches all issues on the European agenda constructively. I ask you, how can you engage in diplomacy and foreign policy if politicians are not supposed to meet and have a normal dialogue on issues on which they have differences of opinion.”

According to Dennik N , in an address to Slovakia, Fico said that he had already held talks with the leader of Vietnam in Moscow. He is scheduled to meet with the presidents of Brazil, China, and the Russian Federation in the future.

“Think of my presence in Moscow as a clear attempt to reach out across this Iron Curtain for normal, friendly cooperation and economic engagement with the Russian Federation,” he said.

Fico’s visit to Moscow

As UNIAN reported, the Prime Minister of Slovakia found himself at the center of an international scandal after his trip to Moscow to participate in the Victory Day parade.

He became the only leader of an EU member state to participate in the event, which sparked a wave of criticism from European partners.

Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Poland closed their airspace to Fico’s government plane , forcing it to take a detour through Hungary, Romania, the Black Sea and Georgia.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called Fico’s participation in the parade a “shame” for Europe, especially against the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

And the head of European diplomacy, Kaia Kallas, stated that Fico “stands on the wrong side of history” and condemned his presence next to Putin during the military parade.
