France will hand over Mirage 2000 fighters to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025, – Minister of Defense

France will deliver Mirage 2000 fighters to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025. This was announced by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu.

The politician wrote in X that the planes will be equipped with new air-to-ground weapons and anti-EW protection.

He also noted that the training of Ukrainian pilots and mechanics continues.

Mirage aircraft for Ukraine – details

In June, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of an unspecified number of Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine. He also announced the planned training of pilots to operate them.

The Mirage-2000-5 fighters, which are planned to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year, need to be modernized to ensure the ability to strike ground targets. These works are to be carried out at the Main Office of Flight Tests in Kazo. The French publication Sud Ouest wrote about it.

The French Mirage-2000 fighter jets can replace the Su-24 bomber , which is currently being actively used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the war. This opinion was expressed by a military expert, reserve officer of the Armed Forces Andriy Kramarov.

According to the expert, modern war conditions require the use of a universal combat aircraft from the Armed Forces.
