France has deployed an Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft to Romania to strengthen the protection of shipping and energy infrastructure in the Black Sea . The aircraft will carry out reconnaissance missions off the western coast until November 6.

French aircraft will search for threats in the Black Sea

France redeployed an Atlantique 2 aircraft to a Romanian air base on October 18 at Romania’s request. Its mission is to detect threats to shipping and help protect critical infrastructure in the country’s economic zone.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense explained the purpose of the mission:

“Identifying threats to shipping and enhancing the ability to protect critical infrastructure in Romania’s exclusive economic zone.”
