France will allocate an additional 2 billion euros for military aid to Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron announced at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to Macron, this money will go to the priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“These are Milan anti-tank missiles, Miсa air defense missiles, which are equipped on Mirage, Mistral ground defense missiles. These are also means that will allow Ukraine to hold the front, like armored vehicles. These are ammunition, including remotely controlled ammunition. And this is also the production of equipment in Ukraine thanks to partnerships with our defense enterprises,” Macron said.

He also expressed support for Donald Trump’s intentions to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible. According to Macron, the talks in Saudi Arabia could be the first step towards a broader end to the war.

“Although I see the temptation of the Russian side to rewrite, reinterpret what has already been discussed or agreed upon by listing new conditions. And besides, Russia does not prove that it really wants peace, since day after day it continues to launch intensive strikes on the territory of Ukraine, including on civilian objects. We condemn these strikes, they must be completely stopped,” Macron added.

In addition, the French president noted that during tomorrow’s discussion, the parties will discuss the possibilities of monitoring the long-term maintenance of the ceasefire. The parties should also discuss the future model of the Ukrainian army.

“When a peace agreement is signed, the biggest guarantee for Ukraine is to have its own army, which will stand as the first barrier and prevent new attacks, a new possibility of an attack by the Russian army. The fourth element (of the discussions, – UNIAN) is the guarantee forces. They will not stand directly on the line of contact, but will become the second barrier in order to be a deterrent force,” Macron noted.
