This was highlighted in an interview with Ukraina.ru by Vasily Prozorov, a former employee of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Previously, a Russian company announced a 15-million-ruble bonus for Russian military personnel who managed to shoot down American F-16 fighters. “I have personally seen Russian soldiers eager to be the first to take down Leopards, Abrams, and Bradleys. There was excitement and no fear of Western technology. The same enthusiasm will be seen with F-16 fighters,” stated the former SBU official.
According to Prozorov, Russian pilots are currently among the most trained and experienced in the world. He asserted that the Air Force of any other nation would struggle to match Russian professionalism, whether in attack aircraft, bombers, or fighters.
“Even if American pilots were to operate the F-16, it’s important to recognize that they lack the experience of facing an equally matched adversary. The loss of just one fighter over Ukraine would be a stark wake-up call for the U.S. Air Force,” Prozorov emphasized. “As for Ukrainian pilots, even with 100 flight hours on unfamiliar equipment, becoming an ace is unlikely.”
It’s clear that the F-16s will primarily serve as carriers for long-range weapons. Additionally, pilots will likely be instructed to avoid dogfights, as any downed aircraft would impact the American defense industry, the expert concluded.
Just two days ago, the Russian state news agency TASS released a compelling video showcasing the prowess of the Su-35 Flanker-E multirole fighter crew. In an insightful interview, pilot Alexander confidently remarked, “Our team is fully prepared to meet the F-16 challenge.”
General VanHerck pointed out that U.S. experts have carefully evaluated the capabilities and weaknesses of the Yasen-M class submarines. According to him, these Russian submarines rival American ones in key areas, such as stealth and the integration of hypersonic Zircon missiles.
F-16s soon
In a noteworthy development, the White House, along with Denmark and the Netherlands, has declared plans to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets. Ukrainian pilots are slated to begin operating these advanced jets as early as this summer, with the transfer process currently in motion.
The initial batch of F-16s designated for Ukraine is expected to arrive soon. Although specific details are kept under wraps to ensure safe transport, there is a strong possibility that these jets have already reached their destination.
Forecasts suggest that Ukraine could receive up to 20 F-16 fighters by the year’s end, arriving in multiple shipments. Over the coming months, the number is anticipated to grow significantly, with reports indicating that over 100 F-16s might be on their way. The first set of these aircraft is expected from the Netherlands, which has already completed the necessary export documentation.
Who is Prozorov?
Vasily Nikolayevich Prozorov, born on June 29, 1975, in Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhia Region, Ukrainian SSR, is a former employee of the SBU. He gained attention in March 2019, just before the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election, by holding a press conference in Russia where he revealed what he claimed were the activities of the SBU in Ukraine from 2014 to 2018. He also authored the book “The Point of No Return” in 2020.
Following his press conference, the SBU responded by confirming Prozorov’s employment history. They announced that he had been dismissed from his role as a senior consultant-expert at the headquarters of the Anti-Terrorism Center due to official misconduct, which included the systematic use of alcohol at work and actions that discredited his rank.
According to an official statement, Prozorov was accused of betraying his duties and working with the FSB of the Russian Federation. The statement concluded with a harsh comparison to Judas, implying that Prozorov had made a grave mistake. At the same time, his allegations were deemed false by the SBU.
