Ukraine is working to establish a unified coordination center designed to manage the recruitment of foreign nationals for military service.
According to the Office of the President of Ukraine on May 5, this specialized hub will oversee the process of bringing international volunteers into the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard.
Kyrylo Budanov, the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated, “Ukraine needs to create a single coordination center for recruiting foreigners for military service. This should be a structural unit that should cover all stages: from search, selection, and transportation to training, supply, and other needs of foreign citizens.”
The creation of this hub was the focus of a meeting between the Office of the President, members of parliament, and representatives of the defense forces.
The participants agreed to spend the month of May developing the unit within the Ministry of Defense. They also plan to present a recruitment program for foreign citizens and stateless persons while preparing legal updates to resolve current regulatory challenges.
According to Deputy Head of the President’s Office Pavlo Palisa, certain military units may take direct responsibility for training and supplying these recruits.
