Family members of servicemen who died in Russian captivity during martial law will receive a one-time cash payment of 15 million hryvnias.

The corresponding amendments to the Law “On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Members of Their Families” (No. 13168) were signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the document card on the Verkhovna Rada website , Censor.NET reports.

The law clarifies some norms related to regulating the payment of a one-time cash benefit to military personnel during martial law in the event of their death (death) while in captivity , as well as in the event of disability or partial loss of work capacity without disability.

According to the new changes, family members of servicemen who died in captivity during martial law will receive a one-time cash benefit of UAH 15 million. However, the benefit will not be paid if the serviceman voluntarily surrendered to captivity.

In addition, the law increased from three months to one year the period during which payments can be made in the event of an injury or illness of a military serviceman during service, which led to partial loss of working capacity without establishing disability, as well as by a person discharged from military service who partially lost working capacity due to the above reasons.

The document also changed the procedure for determining the amount of payments to military personnel when their disability group changes.

We will remind you that on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada made amendments to the law “On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Members of Their Families”, which regulates the procedure for receiving one-time assistance in the event of the death of a military person in captivity.
