Explosions rocked the Stavropol Territory and Samara Region of the Russian Federation at night. In the city of Nevinnomyssk, the Azot chemical plant came under attack, with local authorities reporting casualties and “falling debris.”

The Novokuybyshevsk plant, which produced catalysts for oil refining and petrochemicals, and/or the Novokuybyshevsk Petrochemical Company, could also have been attacked. The Russians published footage of fires at the plants.

Russian media and local chat rooms began reporting about a drone attack in the Stavropol Territory overnight.

“At least 10 explosions thundered over the city of Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol Territory. According to preliminary data, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are trying to attack a local chemical plant with UAVs. Local residents told SHOT that at about 3:20 they heard an air raid siren. Then they heard at least 10 explosions over the city. Bright flashes are visible in the sky. Previously, the air defense system was operating in the area of the local chemical plant. Currently, there is no official information about the destruction and casualties,” wrote one of the large Z-publics.

Later, he reported “one casualty.” Local social media, citing a statement by the regional governor, reported “several casualties” as a result of “falling UAV debris in the industrial zone,” as well as ambulances on the city streets.

Nevinnomyssk Azot is the largest producer of nitrogen fertilizers and ammonia in Russia. It is part of the EuroChem group of companies.

The company’s total production capacity is over 1 million tons of ammonia and 1.4 million tons of ammonium nitrate per year. Urea production reaches 0.89 million tons per year.
