Orban continues to support Trump despite warnings from Hungary’s central bank about future threats to the country’s economy.

Donald Trump’s presidency in the United States will spark a new surge in the right-wing movement in Europe, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said, Reuters reports .

A Trump supporter envisions a “golden era” in US-Hungary relations despite the country’s central bank warning that Trump’s proposed tariffs on the European Union would hurt the Hungarian economy.

“Just a few hours, and even the sun will shine differently in Brussels. A new president in the US, a large faction of patriots in Brussels, great enthusiasm. So the big attack can begin. With this, I am starting the second phase of the offensive, the goal of which is the occupation of Brussels,” Orban noted at the conference, strengthening his anti-Brussels rhetoric.

Reuters recalled that the new tariffs that Trump promised to impose on imports from the EU would hit Hungary’s economy and increase inflation, since the country is to some extent dependent on its automobile industry.

At the same time, Orban said that the EU is in crisis, as it cannot ensure the prosperity of its citizens, stop illegal migration and guarantee its security.

“We in Hungary are the opposition to the system in Brussels. … Brussels is occupied by a left-liberal oligarchy. In the European elections, we have come very close to a real chance of a new right-wing majority that can replace the Brussels elite,” the politician emphasized.
