European Parliament approves resolution on return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia

The European Parliament has adopted a resolution on the return of Ukrainian children who were forcibly removed and deported by Russia.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the EP press service.

It was supported by 516 votes, 3 MEPs opposed, and another 34 abstained.

Thus, the European Parliament condemned the “genocidal strategy” being implemented by Russia with the support of Belarus to destroy Ukrainian identity.

“The forced displacement and deportation of Ukrainian children, their illegal adoption, murders, as well as forced Russification and militarization must stop,” the statement said.

MEPs called on the Russian Federation to provide data on the identities and whereabouts of all deported Ukrainian children and to ensure their well-being and safe and unconditional return.

Russian authorities should also provide international organizations, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and UNICEF, with access to all deported Ukrainian children.

The deputies called on the EU and the bloc’s countries to join the international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children.

They emphasize that the EU should continue to support the Ukrainian authorities and international and non-governmental organizations in their efforts to document deported children.

The international community must hold Russia accountable by strengthening coordination through the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, and the Special Tribunal for the Investigation of Crimes of Aggression against Ukraine, they concluded. Джерело: https://censor.net/ua/n3551113
