Europe needs to turn Ukraine into a “steel porcupine” unfit for absorption by potential invaders, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said after a summit on Ukraine in London. In particular, she said the same as former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson: “We must urgently rearm Europe.”

She said the leaders had had a “good and frank discussion” during which they discussed what steps needed to be taken to put Ukraine in a position of strength, The Guardian writes . In addition, von der Leyen stressed that Ukraine needed “comprehensive security guarantees” and Europe needed to increase its investment in defense over the long term, as this directly affects the security of the European Union.

“We live in a complex geostrategic situation, and we need to be prepared for the worst, which means building up our defense,” she noted.

  1. That’s good, but Europe should also send back all those Ukrainian males of military age, to help the Ukrainian army and its arms industry.
