A massive fire broke out between the Russian cities of Rostov-on-Don and Shakhty, burning fields with extraordinary intensity. Traffic was temporarily halted by a thick smoke curtain that turned the highway into a deadly stretch.
This was reported by Russian media. According to updated data, the fire occurred in the Rodionovo-Nesvitaysky district.
The cause of the massive fire has not yet been determined, but the highway between the settlements has been closed. Visibility is virtually zero on some sections of the road, which has led to accidents.
Meanwhile, 30 hectares of forest are burning in the Martynov district, according to the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Rostov region, Mikhail Fishkin. 110 rescuers and 59 pieces of equipment are fighting the elements.
Temperatures are breaking records in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation: in the village of Glyboki, +47°C was recorded in the shade. According to forecasts, the infernal heat will last in the region at least until the end of next week.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has issued a storm warning for July 14, as temperatures are expected to reach +42°C. Residents are urged to avoid the sun, wear light-colored clothing, drink more water, and avoid alcohol.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Russia was visited by unknown drones on the night of July 13. They probably attacked an oil refinery in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region of the Russian Federation. Explosions were heard even in nearby settlements, and electricity was cut off in some areas, but local authorities are trying to hide the consequences of the attack.
