Ukrainian drones struck an oil refinery in Tyumen, Russia, on June 20. It processes up to 9 million tons of oil per year, is a full-cycle enterprise, and produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and aviation fuel.
To strike this enterprise, Special Operations Forces drones covered a distance of about 2,500 km. Details were disclosed by the SSO.
What is known
The destruction of the Tyumen Oil Refinery the day before, on June 20, was the result of the combat work of the SSO pilots. They shared some details of the attack on a target, the distance to which is measured not in hundreds, but in thousands of kilometers.
“On June 20, Deep Strike units of the Special Operations Forces struck the Tyumen Oil Refinery in the Tyumen Region, Russia. The SSO drones successfully covered about 2,500 kilometers to the target. The Special Operations Forces are increasing the capabilities of their long-range strikes. There are fewer and fewer places in the Russian Federation where the war started by the Russians is not returning,” the message states.
The Special Operations Forces recalled that the Tyumen Refinery is a full-cycle enterprise. The plant’s throughput capacity reaches 9 million tons of oil per year. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and aviation fuel.
This refinery plays an important role in providing fuel to the regions of Western Siberia.
“Special operations forces continue to apply regular long-range sanctions on the Russian Federation,” the SSO noted.
As OBOZ.UA reported the day before, drones attacked the Tyumen Oil Refinery at a distance of more than 2,000 km from the border. A large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise.
To cover this distance for a successful strike is simply amazing.
Just for some perspective, that distance is like flying from New York to Denver or from London to Athens.
