The OSINT community is reporting fires in both cities
Drones attacked two Russian cities – Tolyatti and Taganrog – overnight on September 12. A strategic chemical plant came under attack in the former, while several fires were reported in the latter, including at an airfield and an automobile plant, according to Exilenova+.
Chemical plant in Tolyatti
According to the OSINT community, the target of the attack may have been the KuibyshevAzot chemical plant in Tolyatti.
The facility produces ammonia, ammonium nitrate, urea, ammonium sulfate, caprolactam, polyamide and other products – making it one of Russia’s key strategic enterprises in the nitrogen industry.
This is not the first attack on the plant – drones had already struck it in March this year.
Fires in Taganrog
According to OSINT sources, several fires were reported in Taganrog. A tank at a local automobile plant was reportedly set on fire.
Local residents also reported a fire at the airfield.
According to an analysis by the OSINT community ASTRA, drones likely attacked the Taganrog-Central military airfield, which is home to the 708th Military Transport Aviation Regiment, while the 325th Aircraft Repair Plant operates nearby.
Taganrog Mayor Svetlana Kambulova confirmed a massive aerial attack on the city. According to her, air defense forces destroyed drones over the city, and there are fires at several locations. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, while the damage on the ground is still being assessed.
As a reminder, attacks on Russia’s industrial and energy infrastructure have intensified in recent days. On the night of September 11, several cities, including Volgograd, Kaspiysk and Samara, came under attack, with oil refineries and a port reportedly targeted.
That same night, Saratov also came under attack – oil refineries and an OZON warehouse caught fire following a drone strike.
In addition, Ukraine set a new record for the range of its strikes, with a powerful FP-1 drone attack on the Novy Urengoy and Purovsky gas plants, amid an increase in the depth of attacks inside Russian territory.
