What is known
On the night of December 5, explosions were heard in Syzran, Russia, in the midst of a “UAV threat.”
After them, local residents noticed a fire on the territory of the Syzran Refinery – one of the largest fuel-related oil refineries in the Rosneft system. The glow from the fire at the plant, as evidenced by the footage taken by the Russians, was visible for kilometers from the impact site.
Citing local residents , the independent Russian publication ASTRA reported, in particular, that the Syzran refinery was “attacked and burning.”
The very fact of the drone attack on this Russian city after 2 a.m. Kyiv time was also confirmed by the head of the Syzran city district, Serhiy Volodchenkov.

“Dear residents! Sirens are sounding in the city due to the UAV attack. Warning systems are working. Emergency services are taking all necessary measures to ensure security. I ask you to remain calm and not leave your homes unless absolutely necessary,” the official wrote.
He also warned Russians against approaching “possible UAV crash sites ” and strongly requested that they “refrain from distributing photos and videos with drones on social networks” and “not comment on the work of the services.”

The Russians heeded the request – and leaked a lot of footage of the fire at the refinery to the network.
According to open sources, the Syzran Oil Refinery supplies fuel to the Samara, Saratov, and Penza regions, as well as to parts of Central Russia. It has access to railway and river routes, which allows it to ship products both within the Russian Federation and for export via the Volga and Caspian ports.

The plant produces a wide range of products: gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, which makes it critically important for the regional agricultural sector and transport.
It also has military significance for the aggressor state, as it supplies fuel to airfields and military units in the Central and Southern Districts of the Russian Federation.

The main activity is the processing of toll-based oil. The refinery’s capacity is 8.9 million tons of oil per year.
Given the above, this refinery could not escape the attention of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
In 2025, the facility was attacked at least six times – not including the arrivals that night.
Thus, after a drone attack in February, the plant temporarily stopped working.
On the night of March 4, it flew over him again.
Explosions on the territory of the Syzran Oil Refinery also occurred on the nights of August 15, 24, and 30.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that the day before, the General Staff confirmed an attack on a Russian chemical plant that produces raw materials for explosives . This is Nevinnomyssk Azot in the Stavropol Territory of the Russian Federation. One of the production workshops of the enterprise was hit.

Wonderful, how Ukraine keeps mafia land burning.
