“Bavovna” in the Russian Federation

On April 2, drones attacked a plant in Tatarstan, more than 1,000 km from Ukraine . According to sources, the attack could have been carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

On April 1, a large-scale fire occurred at the Uralmash military plant in Yekaterinburg, Russia. First there was an explosion, and then thick black smoke rose into the sky. It is known that the fire covered an area of more than 800 square meters.

Explosions occurred in the Russian city of Engels on the night of March 20. Local authorities and the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation announced a drone attack. According to Telegram channels, up to four explosions were heard in the city. Air defense forces were supposedly working.

What is “bavovna”

The situation dates back to the late 2010s. Then the Kremlin instructed the Russian media to officially call any explosions (primarily gas explosions) pops. If journalists violated this order, they would face a huge fine, writes Glavred.

Some time after the start of Russia’s full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, explosions and fires began to occur on the territory of the Russian Federation itself with enviable regularity. Local authorities, apparently on the orders of the Kremlin, did not provide reliable explanations, and propagandists, out of old habit, started talking about “claps.”

One of the Ukrainian social network users decided to make a pun. The Ukrainians played on the homonymy of the words “cotton” and “cotton” (a plant very popular in the textile industry). In Ukrainian this plant is called “bavovna”.

“Bavovna slang” has become a very popular Google query.
