Drone Attack: Large Power Plant Burning in Rostov, Russia

03/25/2024 – Translated from Ukrainian via Google and OFP

On the night of Monday, March 25, a powerful explosion occurred at the transformer substation of the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant (GRES) in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation. A fire occurred there and two power units were taken out of service.

Local authorities called it an “accident”, but the Russians criticized them for providing false information. They claim that this is a drone attack and published a video of the explosion, after which the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country justified itself by “intercepting Ukrainian UAVs.”

“Tonight, a fire occurred at the transformer substation of the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant, which was promptly extinguished by the station workers. There were no injuries. The causes are being established,” said Governor Vasily Golubev.

According to him, due to the fire, the 330 kV high-voltage lines – Tikhoretskaya and Rostovskaya – were automatically switched off. Two power units of the state district power plant were temporarily taken out of operation. At the same time, power supplies to consumers were allegedly restored.

However, local residents claim that the station was attacked by drones. Rostov Telegram channels wrote about the sounds of engines similar to UAVs and explosions at about 03:00, which were heard in the Donskoy microdistrict, the villages of Krivyanskaya and Zaplavskaya.

According to some Russians, there were about 17-18 explosions, several of them accompanied by bright flashes in the sky. Video confirmation was published online.

Therefore, in the comments under the governor’s post, residents of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation began to complain that they were not immediately told the real reasons for what happened.

“Why don’t you just write the truth right away?”, “Transformer? Seriously? The entire village and nearby settlements are having massive hallucinations. Why not just write the truth?”, “The reasons are not known? Seriously?”, “Keep silent about what’s happening on really?”, “They already reported! How it was! Therefore, I don’t understand why they should remain silent. TG has already written everything as it is,” the residents of the aggressor country were indignant.

It is noteworthy that after this, comments under the official’s post began to disappear, and in local Telegram channels, where they had previously written about the “Bavovna”, they began to come up with the idea that, despite the explosions and fire, there was supposedly no destruction at ground-based facilities in the area of the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant. They believe that Russian air defense “successfully repelled” the drone attack. And the fact that several rescue crews and ambulances rushed to the station with the first sounds of explosions was “just in case.”

Later, the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country acknowledged the drone attack, announcing the “interception” of 11 “Ukrainian” UAVs by air defense forces over the territory of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.

As OBOZ.UA reported, a video of one of the UAVs hitting the Kuibyshev oil refinery in the Samara region was released in Russia. The attack occurred in the morning of March 23, after which the primary processing column at the refinery burned.

Mafia land is the only country on Earth that is capable of intercepting drones with entire power plants.
