Denmark and Greenland propose deploying a NATO mission on the island, Rutte supports security cooperation

Denmark and Greenland have proposed deploying a North Atlantic Alliance mission to the island. NATO has announced cooperation on collective security.

This was stated by Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen after a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on January 19, quoted by  TV2 , reports  Censor.NET .

Poulsen noted that in a meeting with Rutte, he and the Greenlandic Foreign Minister proposed the idea of ​​a NATO mission in Greenland. 

“Mark Rutte listened to us carefully. In my opinion, it is good that the discussion is taking place in a negotiating room, and not in a public space,” the minister noted.

NATO’s reaction
