Donald Trump told Vladimir Putin that ending Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine was critical and that he was prepared to help, reported Russia’s TASS news agency.

During a phone call on Sunday, Trump also informed the Russian president that the US was nearing a peace deal with Iran as the US-Israel waragainst the country continues, according to Yuri Ushakov, a Putin adviser. The call between Trump and Putin, which lasted about an hour, was described as “friendly and frank” by Ushakov.

Trump also spoke with Volodymyr Zelenskyy on ways to end the Russia-Ukraine war ahead of the G7 meeting in France this week. “I wished President Trump every success, first and foremost in his efforts to end Russia’s war against Ukraine,” the Ukrainian president said on the app Telegram.

Zelenskyy added: “We talked about what could help to bring peace closer right now, and I updated the president on the latest developments on the battlefield and how our position has strengthened,” he said. “We have some good ideas that could help bring peace closer.”

Fighting between Russia and Ukraine has continued for more than four years since Russia launched an invasion into Ukraine in February 2022. The war has now lasted longer than the first world war, which continued for 1,566 days. Peace negotiations have largely been on pause as the war in Iran continues, but Trump officials have recently stated that they want the war in Ukraine to end “as quickly as possible”, according to one senior official who briefed reporters on the G7 meeting set for this week. .

During the call, which lasted 55 minutes, Putin also wished Trump a happy 80th birthday in an “informal” manner, Ushakov said.

“Dear Mr President, dear Donald, I wholeheartedly congratulate you, such a bright, remarkable person and politician, on your 80th birthday!” Putin said in his greeting on the Kremlin website, quoted by Russian news agencies.

Putin’s greeting said he “valued the mutual understanding between us, which allows us to discuss … even the most complex issues on the bilateral and international agenda openly and frankly.”

“I am certain that together we could truly give Russian-American relations a new quality, and also do much to ensure security and stability on the world stage,” Putin wrote.

The two leaders last met in Alaska in August 2025 in a bid to reach a settlement of the war pitting Ukraine against Russia.

Zelenskiy also wished Trump a happy birthdayduring their conversation on Sunday, Reuters reported.

Trump previously announced plans to celebrate his birthday, which is on Sunday, with a cage match on the White House South Lawn. The $60m “UFC Freedom 250” event will feature a 92ft steel structure, which some have likened to a colosseum, and host seven fighting bouts.

  1. President Zelensky:

“I just spoke with the President of the United States of America, President Trump. I wished him a happy birthday and a happy U.S. Army Day. Today there are two celebrations in America, and we had a good conversation with him. It was not just greetings, we discussed many key topics: the war, its roots, diplomatic opportunities, and the positions of our partners. We spoke for a long time. In great detail.”

“We, all Ukrainians, have a wish for President Trump: to finally achieve peace, to reach this success together with America, along with all our partners. This is the most important thing we all want, and it is important that American society fully supports this Ukrainian aspiration for a dignified peace, keeping us protected from Russia’s war. And President Trump’s absolutely correct words today were, in particular, about our Crimea: it was with Russia’s capture of Crimea that everything began, and if there had been strong leadership, there simply would have been no war.”

“I thanked the President of the United States of America for all the assistance provided by the United States. We agreed on our meeting with him. In the coming days in Europe there will be G7 formats, and of course Ukraine and our defense, our opportunities to achieve peace, will be among the main topics.”

And then the child-murdering psychopath celebrated Krasnov’s birthday by attacking Kyiv’s most holy site.

Krasnov will no doubt claim as he usually does, that the fact that he gets on so well with the tiny nazi cokksukka is a good thing, whereas Ukrainians and decent people everywhere will find this to be puke-inducing and depraved.

⚠️1000 year old Monastery hit in Kyiv overnight

Kyiv monastery set on fire in night of Russian attacks across Ukraine

Dormition Cathedral of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, one of Ukraine’s most significant religious sites, and residential buildings hit across capital

Mon 15 Jun 2026 02.12 BST, Ukraine has come under a massive Russian missile and drone attack with waves of explosions echoing through the capital, Kyiv, in the early hours of Monday morning as air raids killed at least five people across the country.

Among targets hit in the sustained wave of strikes were the city’s historic Dormition Cathedral within the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, one of Ukraine’s most significant religious sites, as well as residential buildings across the city.

Footage from the Perchersk Lavra, a Unesco world heritage site, showed towering flames licking up towards its domes. Six people were reported injured.

“[T]he roof of one of the holiest places in the Christian world – the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra – is burning,” Metropoliton Epiphanius, head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, wrote on X.

Yulia Svyrydenko, the prime minister, posted a picture of the monastery building in flames and wrote: “A brutal assault on our people ‌and our heritage. This is the true face of Russia’s Orthodox values. We ask for prayers for the salvation of the shrine from destruction. Another Russian crime against humanity, against history, against Christianity.”

Damage was reported at 16 locations across the capital amid the sound of interceptor launches and explosions that shook windows in the city centre.

“New launches targeting the capital keep being recorded,” said Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, urging people to remain in shelters as at least 10 people were reported injured.

Attacks across Ukraine came after the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, had warned that Moscow would target Ukraine with “systemic” strikes, and amid evidence of mounting battlefield setbacks for Russia.

    • “A brutal assault on our people ‌and our heritage. This is the true face of Russia’s Orthodox values. We ask for prayers for the salvation of the shrine from destruction. Another Russian crime against humanity, against history, against Christianity.”

As Roman Sheremeta has observed, Krasnov has become an enabler of ruZZian terror.

  5. There is nothing to celebrate. With “humans” like Trump, the world is a worse place.
