This is a smart move by Ukraine.
The AH-1 Viper is a well developed basic design with very modern components added including a Longbow module from the Apache. You can almost two for the price of one Apache.
They are also buying the UH-1 Veneon and upgrade of the classic UH-1 from the Vietnam era only with far more lift capacity. The two Helios have a high parts commonality to help simplify logistics. something Ukraine will need to work on going forward.
