Crimea’s largest oil terminal remains ablaze for five days after a drone attack.

October 10, 2025

The Marine Oil Terminal in Feodosia, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked with drones on the night of October 6, continues to burn. It has been unextinguished for five days, Radio Liberty reports  , citing eyewitnesses. The NASA FIRMS satellite fire monitoring service is also recording the fire. It was previously reported that the strike ignited at least two fuel tanks, sending black smoke over 25 kilometers, and 250 residents of nearby areas were evacuated.

The oil depot in Feodosia is the largest in Crimea. It can store up to 250,000 tons of fuel, supplying both the Russian navy and ground forces. The Ukrainian Armed Forces previously attacked the terminal in October of last year. At that time, city authorities declared a man-made emergency. It was reported that Pantsir-S1 air defense systems had been stationed near the depot since the fall of 2022, intended to protect it from attacks. According to satellite imagery, 22 of the 34 fuel tanks remained intact after the previous strikes. According to a source for Krym.Realii, the depot had a multi-layered defense against drones, including watchtowers, a  blackout mode, and metal mesh that only a missile could penetrate.

On September 29, 2025, a fire broke out at a terminal in Feodosia:  a tank containing residual diesel fuel caught fire. The fire spread over an area of 638 square meters. Russian-appointed “authorities” in annexed Crimea claimed the fire was not related to a drone attack, but was caused by a “violation of welding procedures.”  The fire was extinguished the following day, September 30, with the help of  150 Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel and 56 pieces of equipment.

All these incidents occurred amid a fuel shortage in Crimea, where for about two weeks now, no more than 20 liters of gasoline have been sold per customer. According to the analytical firm OMT-Consulting, at the end of September, approximately 50% of the region’s gas stations completely stopped selling fuel due to supply disruptions. Meanwhile, the “authorities” claimed that the Feodosia oil depot was not involved in the supply chain for local gas stations.
