Consequences of the massive attack on Kharkiv: the Barabashovo market is burning. PHOTO report

At dawn on May 6, an enemy drone hit one of the largest markets in Ukraine and Europe, Barabashovo, in Kharkiv.

As Censor.NET reports , this was reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The fire engulfed the trading floors. Smoke from the market fire was visible in various areas of the city.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region , as a result of the Russian attack, shops were burning in the market area of 500 sq m. About 90 shops were damaged and 20 shops burned down.

In total, 6 fires were recorded in the city in the Shevchenkivskyi, Kyivskyi, Kholodnohirskyi, and Industrialnyi districts.

We remind you that “Barabashovo” is one of the largest in Ukraine and Europe. On March 17, 2022, the enemy tried to destroy it – fired from “Grads”. Trade pavilions in different places burned. During the fire extinguishing, the Russian army fired again, two rescuers received multiple shrapnel wounds. One of them died. On March 18, the fire was localized.

“Barabashovo” was also shelled in 2022 on March 25 and May 21, as well as on July 21 – two men were killed, 21 people were injured, the shelling was with “Hurricane” cluster shells.

On the night of February 5, 2025, a Russian drone damaged a market in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. More than 100 shopping pavilions at “Barabashovo” — the city’s largest market — needed restoration.
