The Puma infantry fighting vehicles adopted in Germany do not withstand combat use. This was found out during the December exercises of the Bundeswehr.

This is reported in a secret report of the German Ministry of Defense to the Bundestag, which was at the disposal of Spiegel . .

The publication called the result of the exercise “a complete fiasco.” As it turned out, all 18 infantry fighting vehicles failed on the battlefield. Although now 17 of them have already been repaired, the military almost immediately announced that they would not order any more Puma for the Bundeswehr.

It is noted that Puma had a reputation as one of the most modern German armored vehicles. However, an attempt to use these infantry fighting vehicles in combat shooting led to “failures of individual expensive components and damage due to fires.” The report indicates that in a number of cases emergencies have required special investigations. Spiegel reports that a serious cable fire has occurred inside one of the BMPs.

Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht has already excluded Puma from Germany’s participation in the deployment of NATO Rapid Reaction Forces. They will be replaced by Marder armored vehicles armored vehicles
