Churchill said that “Americans will always do the right thing, only after they have tried everything else.” Unfortunately this time, the wrong things they are prepared to try are dark, perverse, self-destructive, and limitless. They’ll timeout before getting to the ‘right thing’. There will be nothing left of American power to salvage when they are done.
There is a strong streak perhaps of evangelical nihilism in the Trump team’s desire to tear everything down. It’s revolutionary avarice incarnate, and ironically about as far from conservative and Christian values as you can get.
Wanting to burn everything down; to bring on the end of days; the rapture and salvation – but not for the sake of religious ideals, but from pure narcissism and psychopathy; fetishistic authoritarianism and arrogant contempt for those they claim to represent. Unfortunately we are all forced to inhabit their toxic and delusional fantasies.
It’s hard to argue with what Jonathon says since Trump took power. His latest crazy idea is sitting down with the orcs and chicoms to cut defense budgets by half. They will love that. Let the US cut it’s defence budgets while they pretend to cut theirs.
