The restrictions were allegedly introduced for the supply and sale of weapons to Taiwan.

On Thursday, January 2, China’s Ministry of Commerce imposed export sanctions on 28 American companies, The New York Times reported .

Among the companies hit by the restrictions are Lockheed Martin, Boeing Defense and General Dynamics.

As the Chinese government explained, the measure is aimed at “protecting national security and interests.”

In particular, export operations with dual-use goods in relation to sanctioned companies are prohibited.

At the same time, Beijing added 10 companies to a “list of untrustworthy organizations” linked to arms sales to Taiwan. They are now banned from doing any business in China, and their executives are banned from entering or residing in the PRC.
