High-speed electric trains from Cherkasy to Kyiv will be launched in 2021 as a result of works on electrification of the railway to Art. T. Shevchenko in Smila.
“This year, thanks to the modernization and electrification of the railway from Cherkasy to Art. T. Shevchenko in Smila with a total length of 30 km, high-speed electric trains from Cherkasy to the capital will be launched with a travel time of 2 hours. 30 minutes, ”he said.
The Prime Minister stressed that the electrification of this area is a historic moment, as only two cities with the status of the regional center – Cherkasy and Zhytomyr – have so far been deprived of railway connections with the vast majority of regions of Ukraine.
Due to the electrification of the railway from Cherkasy to Art. T. Shevchenko residents of the region will receive a qualitatively new suburban connection with the regional center.
Shmygal also said that plans for the coming years provide for the continuation of electrification from Cherkasy to Hrebinka station with a total length of 90 km.
In addition, it is reported that daily trains will be launched from Cherkasy to the neighboring regional center – Kropyvnytskyi, and it will be possible to run a day high-speed train Kharkiv – Cherkasy – Lviv, which will also pass through Poltava, Bila Tserkva, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky and Ternopil.

Is there a high speed connection between Kyiv or Lviv and Odesa? I only visited Odesa by car coming from Moldova. I want to go by train next year. Thanx in advance.
Highspeed I dont think so. Just the Intercity type: Kyiv-Odesa: 7,30 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No high speed!!!
That’s sad. Since Kyiv and Odesa are major military bases i’m very surprised, they should have a better connection. Anyway, thanks for the info. 👍
We once took the so/called Hyundai train from Kyiv to Odesa and back. It’s not really high-speed but is a very comfortable and easy-going way to travel. We were in first class, which is still very affordable. I am currently in Kyiv and we will be going to Chernivtsi on the Hyundai again.
