On the first line of defense, the Russians had about a hundred conscripts, say those who managed to escape to the rear.

At the beginning of the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region, the units of Russian conscripts covering the border were seized with panic. The situation was aggravated by the lack of orders and a shortage of weapons, writes “Verstka” .

As the participants of those events themselves said, at the time of the breakthrough of Ukrainian troops, this section of the border was guarded by several dozen conscripts from two military units based in the city of Klintsy in the Bryansk region. According to the conscripts with whom Verstka spoke, “everyone knew” that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were preparing to attack, but there were no instructions from the command on this matter. 

“There was just panic there, we didn’t have any combat weapons, only the squad leader. It was chaos, there were no instructions at all, then the squad leader, a contract soldier, ordered us to retreat, the route was under mortar fire, so we went into some woods. That’s where we came under fire, we were scattered, I was concussed,” said a conscript named Alexander.Video of the day

Other sources told the publication a similar story.

“We have an emergency. In short, the hohols broke through the strongpoint. We’ll either go to Sudzha or Goncharovka now. Ten people left with us because we had no weapons, nothing. The shootout started, they covered us with mortars. We were there, in the middle of nowhere, we had no machine guns, no shit,” said conscript Alexey.

According to Verstka’s sources, there could have been more than 100 conscripts in the breakthrough area. Those who survived and were not captured are now being gathered in one place, but dozens of soldiers have still not made contact.
