The NASAMS air defense system, which the Canadian government helped purchase, has already been delivered to Ukraine.
According to CBC News, this was stated by Canada’s Minister of National Defense Bill Blair.
At a meeting of the House defense committee, Blair stated that the NASAMS surface-to-air missile system, which Canada pledged nearly two years ago and committed $406 million to, is now in Ukraine.
“I can’t give you more information on that because of operational security, but we have been able to deliver at long last — and I think it’s going to make a difference because it will enable them to protect communities,” Blair told.
As the publication notes, the Canadian government tried to speed up deliveries by taking advantage of a large purchase by the US.
The $406 million procurement was announced for January 2023. In turn, the Canadian government did not transfer funds to Washington until March 2023 to pay for the system and begin the process.
The U.S. could not begin negotiations with manufacturers until it received funding from Canada and secured the necessary funds. In addition, congressional approval was pending.
Earlier Defense Express reported that Canada had confirmed full support for Ukraine’s use of military aid in russia.

Well, what can be said about this? Thank you on the one hand. On the other, why does EVERYTHING the West promises comes so damned late, or in reduced numbers, or not at all?
Even north korea acts more swiftly and with more determination. They take days to load up the first ship or train, and then they don’t mess around with 15,000 rounds of ammo, but 1,000,000!
I am at a loss for words about all of this.
Sounds NATO countries have no stocks of anything. Weapons are only produced on ‘call’.
