Cameron compares Putin to Hitler, urges everyone not to appease Russian leader

UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron has said it feels like today’s world events are reminiscent of the pre-war 1930s, when the West tried to appease Adolf Hitler and is now repeating the same mistakes with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

He said this in an interview with Politico’s Power Play podcast, Ukrinform reports.

The British government official said that the war in Ukraine remains his “absolute number one priority.”

“This is the challenge for our generation,” Cameron said.

“This is like being a foreign minister or a leader in Europe in the 1930s, we have got to not appease Putin. We have got to stand up to the evil that his invasion represents,” he added.

Cameron’s remarks come as the West scrambles to keep Ukraine topped up with high-tech weaponry to fend off Russia’s full-scale invasion, while bracing for the potential return of NATO-skeptic Donald Trump to the White House.

“One thing we can do is demonstrate during the course of this year that Putin isn’t winning,” Cameron said.

    • At no point did he choose appeasement. He and Bill Hague were the first in the world to name Crimea for what it was : a land grab.
He was the first to send trainers to Ukraine. The UK has trained far more Ukrainian troops than any other country.
He was the first to send cash to Ukraine’s provisional govt in 2014.
He didn’t send troops or weapons at that point. Neither did anyone else.
After 9/11 the US asked the UK to contribute troops for Afghanistan. Which they did. And many of our lads died.
Had Obama asked Cameron to join US troops in Ukraine I have no doubt whatsoever that he would have.
If by some miracle Rishi wins the coming UK election, he will have a mandate and I am almost certain he will send UK troops to help out in Ukraine.

      • I’m not sure if he will win or not, Scradge, I feel that our Public need a change and they want it for the sake of change, not for what might be good for the Country.

The memory of the Public is very short, if you ask most people when and who was the last opposition Government, they couldn’t tell you.

Some of us though, remember the pre-Thatcher Government and the lasting effects that had, plus the Blair project.

Anyway, I won’t get Political, I just wanted to illustrate why I think Rishi might not get in.

Fuck it, I’m going to say it.

Starmer is as much of a smiling viper as Blair was and the Ginger minger is just a sycophantic retard.

      • How do you mean? He already is PM. If he wanted to send troops, he is free to do so right?
Why would you think he would send troops if he gets another term?

        • Do I always have to spell it out to you?
He is an unelected PM. To go to war is a huge thing. It would not pass through parliament, let alone the HOL.
However, a PM with a big victory behind him can do pretty much what he wants.

          • I had that idea, but I didn’t know this would give him a lot more legitimacy as the UK doesn’t choose it’s PM right? I mean, they are never directly chosen.

I do have strong doubts he would join the right, especially as the UK isn’t really well equipped to wage a large scale war far from home, as they focus mostly on naval and air power. I think he would consider it if Ukraine would be near collapsing, but if not I don’t see why he would take this risk.

  1. I’m glad for the choice of words that Cameron used. Hitler and appeasement … they should scare off some of the appeasing critters across the West.
