According to the press service of the Odessa City Hall , almost a two-month rainfall rate fell in the regional center within 7 hours. This caused flooding of a number of streets, as well as damage to municipal infrastructure. In addition to pipeline accidents, two sewage pumping stations are currently flooded due to abnormal rainfall.
“One of the facilities in the Peresyp area experienced an emergency power outage, which is currently being resolved by DTEK specialists. The station and generators were flooded with a powerful stream of water, which temporarily made the operation of pumping equipment impossible. Also, due to flooding with surface stormwater, the operation of the sewage pumping station in the Chubayivka area was suspended,” the city hall specified.
It also states that due to the shutdown of pumping stations, traffic through Peresyp is currently impossible – this part of the city is flooded. Drivers are asked to be as careful as possible, choose alternative routes and follow safety rules.
